About the Rex Mafiana Foundation (RMF)

The Rex Mafiana Foundation (RMF) was established to reduce inequality for young Nigerians who lack access to quality education. We are committed to education’s power to transform individuals and society. RMF focuses on funding education and supporting families, aligning with these SDGs:

SDG 1: No Poverty

SDG 4: Quality Education

SDG 10: Reduced Inequality

We believe sustained access to quality education will reduce illiteracy, inequality, and poverty in the short, medium, and long term.

Calls For Application

RMF publishes scholarship opportunities via its official website and social media platforms during the following periods:

First Call: March – April

Second Call: July – August

Interested applicants are required to complete the official RMF Scholarship Application Form available on the RMF website or upon request via email at info@rexmafianafoundation.org & cynthiao@rexmafianafoundation.org

Please note: Late submissions will not be considered.

To be considered for the RMF Scholarship, applicants must:

  1. Possess a minimum of five (5) credit passes (Grade C and above) in relevant subjects, including Mathematics and English Language, in WAEC / NECO / GCE
  2. Have a minimum JAMB score of 200
  3. Have secured admission into an RMF-approved university and course of study
  4. Provide a verifiable admission letter from the institution
  5. Demonstrate academic potential, good character and integrity and financial need, as assessed through a combination of academic records, personal statements, interview performance, reference checks, and submitted supporting documentation.

At the close of each application cycle, all submissions shall be reviewed by the RMF Team and Management based on:

  • Academic performance (WAEC/NECO/GCE results)
  • JAMB score
  • Course of study and alignment with RMF priorities
  • Verification of admission status
  • Completeness and authenticity of submitted documents

Only candidates who meet the minimum requirements will proceed to the next stage.

Stage Two: Interview

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to participate in a virtual interview process, which includes:

  • An IQ Test
  • An oral interview with RMF panel members
  • Interview Requirements

Candidates must:

  • Have access to a tablet, desktop or laptop
  • Ensure a stable internet connection
  • Be in a quiet and distraction-free environment
  • Be appropriately dressed

Note: Failure to meet these requirements may result in automatic disqualification.

Stage Three: Reference Check

As part of the selection process, shortlisted candidates may be required to provide one or more referees. RMF will conduct reference checks to assess the candidate’s character, academic potential, and overall suitability for the scholarship.

Failure to provide credible referees may impact the candidate’s chances of final selection.

Successful candidates will receive an official acceptance email outlining:

  • Scholarship offer details
  • Required documentation (including Data Consent Form)
  • Orientation programme details

Candidates are required to formally accept the offer within the stipulated timeframe communicated by the Foundation.

Important Notice

RMF reserves the right to disqualify any candidate at any stage of the process including post-selection and onboarding if they:

  • Exhibit unprofessional conduct such as tardiness or lack of commitment
  • Submit multiple applications
  • Provide illegible, false or misleading information
  • Engage in unethical behavior
  1. Full Scholarship

Awarded to students with a CGPA between 3.50 and 5.00 (on a 5.0 scale).

This covers:

  • Full tuition fees
  • Monthly living allowance (60,000)
  • Accommodation
  • Textbooks
  1. Partial Scholarship

 Awarded to students with a CGPA between 2.40 and 3.49.

This covers:

  • Full tuition fees
  • Monthly allowance (50,000)
  • Textbooks
  1. Scholarship Forfeiture

The scholarship may be withdrawn if a beneficiary:

  • Falls below the minimum academic requirement (CGPA 2.40)
  • Provides false or misleading information at any stage
  • Engages in misconduct or criminal activity

Criteria for courses of study 

  1. STEM(Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics): Nigeria faces a demand for skilled STEM graduates, especially in; 
  • Computer Science and Information Technology: With the growth of digital transformation, skilled IT professionals are in high demand.
  • Engineering Disciplines: Fields like Electrical, Civil, Mechanical and Chemical Engineering contribute to infrastructure and industrial development. 
  • Health Science: Medicine, Nursing, and other health-related courses help address healthcare shortages.

2. Education: Scholarships for aspiring teachers, particularly in STEM and English, can improve educational standards, especially in undeserved regions.

3. Law and Public Administration: Graduates in these fields can drive legal reforms and strengthen governance, fostering accountability and transparency.

4. Social Sciences: Fields like Economics and Psychology are valuable for research, policy development, and understanding socio-economic challenges. Courses in Business Administration, Accounting, and Entrepreneurship help foster job creation and innovation.

5. Humanities: Linguistics and communication studies, English and Foreign Languages.

RMF reserves the right to modify the scholarship criteria, selection process and benefits at any time. All decisions made by the Foundation regarding the selection and award of scholarships are final.
